Sheena King, an original member and founding Director of LinkStep for 7 years, retired in early 2019.
Sheena was originally our Chief Financial Analyst for R&D claims and Financial Director. She is no longer involved in the general day-to-day running of LinkStep and instead now only involved as a consultant on special cases when needed.
Her expertise and life-long experience across R&D tax and the wider field of tax and accountancy, makes her a unique and invaluable individual to be able to call upon. Sheena will therefore be seen occasionally helping with internal reviews, providing technical insight, providing support during an HMRC enquiry, or further perspective during specialist claim preparation work.
Prior to working in R&D tax from 2002, Sheena worked as a senior financial controller in industries including oil & gas, advertising, engineering, reprographics, print, software and cosmetics. Experience during this time formed a solid base of financial, tax and accounting experience that included managing every aspect of cash flow: cash flow forecasts, due diligence, general accountancy, budgeting, invoicing, payroll, cash projections and monthly management accounts for stakeholders.
Soon after the inception of the R&D scheme in 2002, Sheena setup an R&D tax department within an accountancy practice for the SME market. Given the year this was setup, the team was at the cutting edge of tax, often working with HMRC to understand how the scheme can evolve and the legislation be applied.
